NEAN

In his practice, Nean is interested in illustrating a specific instant, a moment of poetry, of calm, within an emotionally charged atmosphere. He works from photographs that he revisits with spray cans, paint and pencils. Self-taught artist, Nean is mostly interested in portraits, on paper, canvas or walls.

Inspired by traditional painting, the Belgian artist creates realistic artworks, that he brings up to date with a superb technique and by depicting his contemporary entourage. Nean's universe translates a nostalgic ambience, each portrait sending the viewer back to a moment passed, a lost memory, filled with profound emotions.

Nean is known for his remarkable play on lights, creating hypnotising atmospheres from nothing. Whether inside or outside, his strong contrasts and masterful technique render his practice truly fascinating.
