HIT THE NORTH ARTISTS 2025

Holly Pereira

Ireland

Holly Pereira is a Singaporean-Irish illustrator and muralist based in Dublin, Ireland.

Her work is colourful, fun and bold.  Her hand-painted murals take reference from folk art and typography, weaving narrative throughout the mural through the carefully considered use of motif and palette.  Through her work, Pereira seeks to create bright and exuberant environments in which we are invited to reconnect with the existing architecture, historical and social aspects of a place. Her current practice draws from many disciplines, including murals, illustration, animation, projection mapping, textile and typographic design.

Pereira has a BA in fine art (NCAD 2004), and a HND in animation (BCFE 2015).  Her work is often led by social activism, surrounding issues such as the feminism, human rights, and socialism.

She has taken part in residencies and shows in Berlin, Singapore, London and Cill Riallaig, Kerry.  She was invited to create a six-storey public artwork celebrating female artisans in Belgrade, Serbia, and she also painted a mural incorporating folk art and textile design in Sardinia.  She has been invited to paint in street art festivals in Belfast (Hit the North) and Waterford (Waterford Walls), as well as speaking at Melba Design Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria.
